The London Early Years Foundation (LEYF) is the UK's largest childcare Social Enterprise and a family of 37 nurturing and pioneering community nurseries based across London. LEYF works with communities and parents to enrich and extend children's learning, so that each child is the best they can be. As a social enterprise, all LEYF profits are invested back into the nurseries, allowing it to subsidies free places for 20% of its families, giving access to early education and care to children from disadvantaged backgrounds. It is through this means that the organisation has acted as a catalyst for long-term social change over the past 113 years.

We know the continued challenges our early years sector is facing; one big factor is the extreme skills shortage early years provisions are noticing every day. LEYF want to continue to do its part in changing that. That's why we are now looking to expand our award winning LEYF Academy and recruit for the first time, a Head of Learning and Development.

As the Head of L&D, based in Westminster, London, you will be accountable for the leadership and development of the L&D department. Together, you will work to create and deliver a series of internal and external programmes aligned to the LEYF strategic and social goals. You will develop and deliver a successful and robust strategy which will link into our new Talent Management Strategy and develop a LEYF LIIP (LEYF International Institute of Pedagogy). External programmes will be developed on a commercial basis and a business plan for the LIIP will be required.

Your key areas of responsibility will be measured against; Delivery, Quality assurance and educational excellence, people management and leadership, communication and building relationships, information and business management, business/ commercial development.

In order to be considered for this role we would require you to have:

    • Significant experience working at a senior level.
  • Built and developed your career within the learning and development sector to gain credibility.

    • Some knowledge and experience of early years and educational training
    • Qualified to degree level, CIPD or equivalent
    • Qualified and up to date IQA
    • Experience managing budgets
  • The ability to adopt and represent a fast paced and collaborative culture

  • Passion for developing skills in those who work with children and an understanding of the importance it has to society.
  • A strong and task orientated personality who can influence and include your team and stakeholders along the way.As part of the LEYF family you will be entitled to:
