We are a long established independent charity based in Orpington, Kent (Greater London) which has been providing day care to the local community for almost 50 years and we are recruiting for a nursery manager whose focus is on providing exceptional childcare services with the aim of  providing every child with the best start.  We are looking for someone who is energetic and experienced and passionate and who can bring these qualities to the team, our culture and ethos.

The nursery is Governed by a Board of Trustees who are responsible for governance and risk and will work with the Manager to maintain high standards to provide a safe nurturing environment where children can grow and develop their confidence, independence and self-care.

As Manager of this lovely friendly community nursery you will be required to:

• Be responsible for all administrative duties associated with the nursery (with assistance of a Finance Officer), such as maintaining records, ordering equipment, maintaining inventories and keeping personnel records.· Adhering to all Company policies and procedures.· Undertaking any other duties as reasonably requested by the Trustees.·

•Ensure that all children receive rich learning opportunities and exceptional care experiences appropriate to their age and stage of development

•Manage a staff team of 23 staff including health and wellbeing, recruitment, handling disputes, training and development and carrying out regular appraisals.

• Ensure that all practices and provisions in the Nursery meet the requirements of the EYFS and Ofsted

• Be responsible for facilitating partnerships with colleagues, parents and/or carers or other professionals to meet the individual needs of the children

• Be responsible for safeguarding and promoting the health, safety and welfare of children

•Be responsible for overseeing the financial performance of the nursery and ensuring it operates within budget.

It is essential you must have the following:

Minimum NVQ Level 3 Childcare Qualification (or equivalent) and above· Minimum of 3 years' Nursery Management experience·

Knowledge of EYFS, Safeguarding implementation & Child Development·

Experience in all areas of nursery management i.e. Childcare & Education, staff, finance, health & safety and general and operations management.

You must be passionate about ensuring that the children under your care develop and learn in a safe and supportive environment· Excellent Leadership skills with the ability to successfully manage teams· Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and complete them a timely fashion· Resilient, able to handle challenging situations· Calm with the ability to make sound decisions under pressure· Attentive, gentle and patient· Interpersonal, friendly and outgoing· Proactive with the ability to take initiative and make sound decisions· Excellent communication skills with a solid command of English· Strong IT skills.

Additional Details:

The Nursery operates 51 weeks a year between the hours of 08.00am and 6.00pm and is registered for 53 children between the ages of 12 months and 5 years. You will work 40 hours per week to meet the needs of the Nursery.
