Westfield nursery is run by the University for their staff and students, as well as those from the wider community. It offers 65 full time places each day in five age based rooms and has a strong reputation for best practice.

We are looking to recruit an Assistant Nursery Practitioner to join our teams working with children under the age of five years. The post is open to those new to childcare, but you must have a commitment to learn the best approaches, and a willingness to pursue a qualification (if not already held) in the field of early years.

You will be passionate about providing excellent care for the children’s personal, educational and social needs. You will need to show the ability to communicate and interact with young children and their carers, as well as the ability to read and write in English to complete plans and reports.

You will have flexible approach to your work tasks, a strong dedication to team work, and focus on the need of customers.

In this role you would work 40 hours per week for 52 weeks of the year. Hours are typically between 08.30 and 17.30 Monday to Friday in line with the nursery opening hours.

Starting salary will be in the range £20,336 to £21,834 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days annual leave and a defined benefit pension scheme.

The post is for a fixed term and is available as a result of maternity leave, however, should the post-holder (on maternity leave exercise her right to) return to work earlier, then this appointment will be terminated, subject to a notice period of one month.

Candidates will be subject to enhanced clearance by the Disclosure and Baring Service (DBS), and medical clearance by the University’s Occupational Health Service prior to undertaking the post.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
