Deputy Nursery Manager and Room Leader – Cole Green, Hertford

We are recruiting for a Deputy Manager and a Room Leader to join our clients’ fantastic family run nursery. They provide a fun, stimulating, safe, happy and rewarding environment for the children.

They are located in a purpose-built barn conversion which is situated in a superb rural location with well-equipped and modern rooms, each having their own garden. The attractive countryside is a beautiful backdrop against which the children play freely and securely to develop their senses and imagination.

Job Role: Deputy Nursery Manager

Hours: 40 hours per week (over 4 days)

Salary: £18,000 – £28,000 per annum (depending on experience and qualifications)

What you need:

  • Minimum of 1 years’ experience working in childcare
  • Senior/Management experience preferable
  • Level 3 or above Childcare qualification
  • Organised, attention to detail and excellent people skills
  • Passionate about childcare

Job Description:

  • To promote the aims and objectives of the nursery
  • To promote the high standards of the nursery at all times to parents, staff and visitors
  • To assist the General Manager(s) in showing parents around the nursery facilities and sending out information
  • To lead a team of professional workers and to ensure good practice at all times
  • To assist with the planning and organisation of staffing schedules and holiday rotas to ensure adequate staffing levels are maintained in accordance with Ofsted guidelines and nursery procedures
  • To assist with the development and implementation of systems to monitor and record child development
  • To be responsible for the Health and Safety standards appropriate for the needs of young children and ensuring staff compliance and awareness
  • To ensure high standards of hygiene and cleanliness are maintained at all times
  • To ensure the provision of a high-quality environment to meet the needs of individual children regardless of any disabilities, family backgrounds or medical history
  • Support all team members with the early identification and intervention for children with possible special needs and give physical, emotional, intellectual guidance as appropriate
  • To ensure confidentiality of all information received and shared
  • To assist with staff development and training and the induction of new staff members
  • Support the appropriate supervision meetings/processes in conjunction with the General Manager(s)
  • Attend nursery management meetings and feed appropriate information back to the wider team
  • Liaise with parents, other family members and staff to help ensure that the particular needs of children are met and that parental choice is considered in terms of care given
  • To liaise with outside agencies as required
  • To be involved in out of working hours’ activities, e.g. training, planning meetings, monthly staff meetings, parents evening, fundraising events etc.
  • To deputise for the General Manager(s) in his/her absence

Hours: 40 hours per week (over 4 days)

Salary: £18,000 - £28,000 per annum (depending on experience and qualifications)

What you need:

  • Minimum of 1 years’ experience working in a senior position in childcare
  • Level 3 or above Childcare qualification
  • Organised, attention to detail and excellent people skills
  • Passionate about childcare

Job Description:

  • To use the specific training/knowledge of working with babies and children to support all children’s individual needs
  • Formulate and operate a programme of activities that meet the individual needs and interests of children in your area in conjunction with other team members and the Management Team
  • Be responsible for the Health and Safety standards appropriate for the needs of young children
  • Managing the daily running of the room to ensure breaks and activities are organised with ratios covered
  • Liaising with parents and family members
  • Undertake supervisions for the team and feed into appraisals, nursery operations and target settings
  • Taking part in management meetings, open days and outings
  • To ensure a high standard of physical, emotional, social and intellectual care for all children
  • To keep records of your key children’s development and learning journey and share it with parents
  • Ensure all record keeping is accurate and up-to-date within your designated area
  • To give support to other team members within their immediate room and the wider nursery
