Job Description and Person Specification for Deputy/SENCo

Job title: Deputy/SENCo

Location: Fortune Green Play Centre, Fortune Green Road, London NW6 1DR

Salary: £22,432 per annum pro-rata (£16,864 p/a actual)

Reporting to: Early Years Lead Practitioner

Responsible for: Playworkers, sessional staff, volunteers, interns and placement workers

Annual Leave: 28 days per annum (including public holidays) pro-rata

Hours: 33 hrs pw during term-time (38 wks p/a), 35 hrs pw during school holidays (1 wk p/a)

Job purpose and Context

The Deputy/SENCo will contribute to the management of the day-to-day operations of Preschool services to deliver high quality, inclusive, childcare, play and learning opportunities for children aged 1-4 years and to fulfil the role of named SENCo for the setting. Your responsibilities will be to work in partnership with the Early Years Lead Practitioner to create and retain a happy and committed staff team, lead them in the creation of a welcoming, stimulating, safe environment, which supports children’s development and well-being, and help develop the foundations for children’s future progress through school and life. As a key member of the management team at the setting, you will work effectively with stakeholders and develop positive relationships with parents/carers.

PACE is a user-led, grass-roots charity founded in 2011 by a group of parents and play work professionals in Camden to establish high quality inclusive play services in the borough. We now operate a range of services for children aged 2-18 years. We enjoy strong links within the local community and employ a highly experienced, expert staff team.
