Senior Manager (Maternity Cover for a Stunning Nursery)


Salary circa £40k plus bonus

As Senior Manager you be will reporting to the Nursery Principal and Managing Partner be helping consistently providing a high standard of care for each child, maintaining the standards set by the nursery and adhering to the nursery policies. You will be supporting the Principal and overseeing the nursery staff with of your weekly time spent in the ratios as well as time in the office.

Duties and responsibilities 

• Ensure that the standards and philosophy of the nursery are maintained and projected

• You must be flexible within working practices of the nursery, helping where required / requested by the Principal

• Demonstrate good communication skills with all staff within the nursery and management

• Be an active member of the team as well as being a manager

• To update and maintain the weekly staffing rota and 9-day fortnight rota ensuring that staffing ratios are correct and the resource used as effectively as possible

• Carry out the holiday allocation annually alongside the other Senior Manager and update and maintain throughout the year

• Monitor staff lateness, sickness and refer onto HR where problems are arising

• Settle in new staff and ensure they understand the routine of the nursery & their role

• To exercise discretion with staff on various issues • To monitor, organise and motivate staff 

• Monitor the rooms throughout the nursery and specifically in main school or babies

• Ensure the rooms are following the curriculum and EYFS in their displays and staff are adhering to policies and procedures

• Monitor all paperwork signed off by parents

• To show an excellent understanding on how the induction and training process operates and guide Junior Managers on how to carry this out correctly

• Liaise with parents on inductions, building a good rapport on behalf of the nursery, and maintain regular communication with them

• Show parents around the nursery in the absence of the Principal

• To be able to identify training and development with all staff you supervise

• Update all policies and procedures alongside the other nursery managers

• Carry out staff training regularly

• Carry out inductions for new parents

• To be involved in the curriculum, giving advice with planning input to the Principal

• Taking responsibility with OFSTED inspections and understanding the requirements required during an inspection
