Nursery Practitioner

LOCATION: Stockwell 

RESPONSIBLE TO: Assistant Manager / Nursery Manager

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

  •  To assist in the provision of a high standard of care for children placed in the nursery in a way that meets their personal, social, emotional, communication, language and physical developmental needs.
  •  Bunnies on the Green Nursery is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. This post is subject to a DBS check.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To contribute to the planning and implementation of appropriate programmes of activity for the children in collaboration with the Nursery team
  •  To have a full understanding of the nursery systems of planning and recording. Keep records of the children’s development using the nursery tracking, two-year-old check and key worker system.
  •  To assist in the provision of an attractive and stimulating range of equipment, activities and displays, indoor and out, relevant to the ages and needs of the children.
  •  To assist in the provision of a high-quality environment to meet the needs of individual children from differing cultures, religious backgrounds and stages of development.
  •  To be familiar with and implement the EYFS,National Standards and Ofsted guidelines and recommendations of good practice and conform to the policies and procedures of Bunnies on the Green Nursery.
  •  To share in the responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children in the nursery.
  •  To liaise with parents and encourage their involvement in the aims of the nursery and in all aspects of their children’s care.
  •  Have a knowledge of the wider services offered at Bunnies on the Green Nursery and encourage families to access relevant support.
  •  Actively participate as a member of the nursery and the wider Bunnies on the Green Nursery team in order to maintain high standards and improve services.
  •  Mentor and support volunteers and student placements
  •  To be prepared to undertake additional training deemed suitable for the fulfilment of the role in the nursery
