Nursery Manager

A soon to be launched independent private day nursery with a Christian ethos in Lewisham, London is looking for a Nursery Manager to work with the directors in launching and growing the nursery. We are still in the planning stage with a building already purchased but not yet fitted out for a nursery. Based on the size of the property, we may achieve registration of 60 children. As a consequence, we seek a Nursery Manager to plan, design, and launch with us. The permanent name has not even been chosen yet.

The successful Nursery Manager will be passionate about working with young children, a highly skilled, enthusiastic professional with an ability to motivate and lead a team.

Our nursery is looking for a dynamic Nursery Manager with experience and strong leadership skills. The ideal candidate will need to demonstrate good effective organisational skills and excellent people management skills.

Depending on the success of the first nursery, we may seek to expand and so this Nursery Manager role may develop into an Area Manager or Director role.

The Role:

  • To assist in the business launch in terms of key design inputs, branding, marketing, and recruitment of staff
  • To work in partnership with the Directors to provide high standards of education and day-care for the children who attend
  • To recruit, lead, develop and inspire your team of childcare professionals
  • To ensure the overall smooth running of the nursery with your senior team
  • To maintain Health and Safety policies and the Safeguarding of the children
  • Where appropriate, to work in partnership with outside agencies and local regulatory bodies

The Candidate:

  • L3 or above in a recognised UK Childcare qualification 
  • Able to work as an ambassador for the nursery
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a management role
  • Supervisory and team leading skills
  • Extensive knowledge of the EYFS
  • Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
  • Ability to liaise with and develop good relationships with parents and staff
  • Proven track record of achieving a minimum of 'GOOD' in an OFSTED inspection
  • Excellent demonstrable knowledge of OFSTED standards
  • Entrepreneurial mindset.
