Room Leader Job Description

 

The Room Leader is responsible to the Manager and Deputy Manager.

Duties will include:

Ø  Working in partnership with senior staff to ensure the smooth running of the nursery whilst adhering to the policies and procedures of Inspire Day Nurseries Ltd, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and within the guidelines laid down by Ofsted.

Ø  Ensuring confidentiality is maintained in the nursery.

Ø  Having key-holder responsibility, opening and closing the nursery when required.

Ø  Offering all children, families and staff equal opportunities with regard to their religious persuasion, racial origins, gender, disabilities, cultural or linguistic background; in particular, challenging situations where racism or discrimination is displayed.

Ø  Providing a good role model for other staff and students.

Ø  Conducting regular supervision of Early years practitioners and apprentices working directly in your room, conducting regular observations and assessments, recognising training needs, and developing teamwork.

Ø  Attending and contributing to regular staff meetings after work.

Ø  Providing regular feedback to the Deputy Manager with regards to the nursery.

Ø  Attending in-service training at weekends when required. 

Ø  Care and supervision of the children with regard to their physical, emotional and intellectual needs.

Ø  Overseeing the planning of activities and children’s development records for all staff within your room to ensure they are always up to date.

Ø  Carrying out the planning for your room on a rota’d basis and updating the development records for your key children. 

Ø  Ensuring that the preparation, care and cleanliness of all areas of the nursery and equipment are carried out according to the policies and procedures and risk assessment.

Ø  Support the administration and finance of the nursery by managing a budget for your room and keeping accurate records as requested.

Ø  Work with the staff team and children to ensure maximum use, without unnecessary wastage of Nursery resources and equipment.

Ø  Liaison with parents and negotiation of working targets ensuring effective communication within the nursery.

Ø  Ensuring that duties are delegated fairly and supporting to ensure staff are deployed effectively to carry out the correct preparation of bottles and babies feeds, nappy changes, laundry duties and supervision of meals.

Ø  Recording accidents and incidents and ensuring forms are returned to the office once signed by the relevant parties.

Ø  Have an in depth knowledge of the SEF as required by Early Years and Ofsted.

Ø  Support in the arrangements of regular parents’ evening, publicity, open weekend and children’s outings and ensuring effective marketing.

Ø  Networking in the community as appropriate.

Ø  Any other duties deemed appropriate to the role as prescribed by the Deputy, Manager or Director.
