Job Details

We are delighted to be working with a “ Good “ rated Nursery, based in Chesham to recruit a Deputy Manager to its team on a maternity contract. The Deputy Manager will need to deputise for the Manager, in the Managers absence.  At all other times, they will help lead the nursery, adhering to all the policies and practises, and acting as a role model and point of guidance for the staff team.  They will ensure the children in our nursery are cared for and developed to an excellent standard, and that all children receive high quality experiences in line with their individual needs.   Main Responsibilities:-
To ensure good practices, planning and assessment of all children in the rooms.
To ensure the smooth running of the daily practices, ensuring practices and policies are followed, including ensuring paperwork is completed to a good standard.
To ensure the rooms operate to the required high standards of care and quality, supporting the room leaders.
To be a room leader on occasion if and when requested by the Nursery Manager.
To act as a role model, demonstrating excellent practice.
To assist in and support the induction, supervision and appraisal of practitioners, as delegated by the Manager.
To hold a key if requested, and take responsibility for opening and locking up of the nursery in accordance with opening hours, where requested by the manager. Ensure all security systems are turned on and off as necessary.
To attend and contribute to regular management meetings and participate in staff meetings.
To provide feedback to the Nursery Manager and Proprietor, including comprehensive information having deputised.
To address staff and parent queries and ensure parents feel welcome in the nursery at all times. This is a 41.5 hour per week post, but may require additional hours to ensure the role is fulfilled.   Person Specification
Qualifications
• To have a Level 3 or above Childcare Qualification
• Current First Aid Certificate (for young children/ adults)
• Current Safeguarding Children Certificate Experience
• To have a minimum of five years of experience of caring for young children (with at least 2 years specific experience of caring for babies) ensuring good, appropriate behaviour and offering high quality provision, care and delivering high standards of learning and development .
• To have a minimum of two years of experience of working with and/ or leading other adults in a team.
• To have experience of implementing the EYFS.
• To have experience of developing staff/ giving training.
• To have experience of developing good working parental relationships.
