Job Description

Last academic year, Thetford Grammar School entered an exciting new era in opening our first international Early Years campus in China. Due to the already overwhelming success of this Prep school, it will shortly be followed by our second later this year.

We are looking to appoint a team of outstanding practitioners with experience in teaching ages 3 to 6 years to join our development of a bespoke programme of learning for delivery to pupils in Changsha, China.

We are looking for highly-motivated individuals to join us in Thetford in January ahead of going out to Changsha in March 2020.

Candidates will have a proven track record of success within, and a strong understanding of, EYFS/Pre-Preparatory education in the UK to degree level. The role will be a challenging and busy one requiring collaboration with colleagues in China and the UK. A flexible approach and an aptitude for team work will be essential.

Our international staff will have the full support of a Head who is widely renowned within the educational sector in China, a parent body fully invested in their child's success, and our senior and middle leaders in the UK.

This is an exciting opportunity to gain international experience and possible leadership opportunities and would suit candidates looking for challenge, variety and career progression.

A generous remuneration package including transport, meals, a monthly allowance, accommodation in a single apartment walking distance from the school, a trip home each year and a tourist trip anywhere in China each year will also be available. Holidays will be in line with the China education system.

In addition, we will offer staff that successfully complete two years internationally the opportunity to work at Thetford Grammar School, England, our 3-19 day and boarding school in the UK (subject to candidates having suitable right to work in this environment).

Thetford Grammar School

Thetford Grammar School is an independent co-educational day and boarding school in Thetford, Norfolk with some 200 pupils aged from 3-19 coming from feeder schools across Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridge.

Celebrating it’s 900^th anniversary in 2014, the school is one of the oldest in England. It was a state Grammar School until it became independent in 1981. The school occupies 2 sites in the centre of the town. Some buildings date back to Tudor times, others are brand new and despite being a small school, it offers a wide range of facilities.

While taking pride in the 900 years of educating local children, Thetford Grammar School dedicates itself to preparing pupils for the fast moving, ever changing world they will enter on leaving. It’s chief aim is to develop the whole child within an inclusive school community.
