The Children’s House Nurseries are two family owned independent nursery schools based in the grounds of local Wimborne primary schools. Our nurseries cater for 2 – 5 year old children in a relaxed and happy environment. We provide the highest standards of educational care for our children, and fully support their preparations with transitioning to school at the appropriate time.

Our nurseries offer a rich and varied curriculum based on a sound knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage. We incorporate some Montessori methods and equipment to support and enhance the EYFS.

We are looking to recruit a Nursery Manager to manage The Children’s House Montessori School, in Corfe Mullen.

The position is full-time, working 48 weeks per year (the nursery is closed for 2 weeks over the Christmas period and 2 weeks at the end of August).

The role is not only office based, and requires an exceptional early years practitioner to plan for and lead nursery activities. There will be 3 supernumerary sessions per week for paperwork and administrative tasks. During all other sessions the Manager is included in normal staffing ratios and will have responsibility for a group of their own key children.

Our central off-site office provides the nursery with administrative and IT support such as; design and layout of nursery forms, centralised recording of DBS checks, ordering of nursery equipment and resources, arranging maintenance contractors and sending out information to parents as requested by the Manager via a centralised Mailchimp service. Payroll, staff holiday calculations and pay reviews, nursery invoicing and early years funding claims are also carried out centrally by the owners using information provided by the Nursery Manager. We offer a high level of support to our managers, such as researching latest information on current nursery affairs from the National Day Nurseries Association, the government and Dorset Council’s Early Years team.

Supervision will be carried out on a regular basis to ensure happiness, job satisfaction and career progression. The nursery owners also provide annual appraisals to all staff to discuss the development of their roles.

The hours will generally be Monday to Friday 08.15 – 16.00 although lates (16.00 up until 18.00) are shared fairly by the whole staff team. Flexibility with start and finish times is desirable for this key role.

Holiday entitlement: Government statutory 28 days (including 4 weeks of nursery closures and all bank holiday closures). An additional one week of further paid holiday allowance is offered with this position.

Salary: £27,000 - £30,000 p.a. dependent on experience and qualifications.

Pension: Automatic enrolment into Nest Pension Scheme (unless choosing to opt out).

You will be required to complete a confidential Health Declaration.

A full and clear DBS check will be required for this role.

About you.

You must be passionate about children and providing them with the best possible start in their development.

With a very sound knowledge of the EYFS you will bring new ideas for enriching the nursery curriculum and improving upon nursery practices. You will find ways to inspire your team to develop their practice, building strong bonds for a happy, secure and nurturing workplace.

We are looking for someone with very strong managerial skills who is able to work well under occasional pressure, and with a good sense of humour and resilience. The applicant must be highly motivated to run a fun and stimulating nursery where children thrive and grow in confidence. You must be committed to the highest levels of safeguarding and care at all times.

A qualification, interest or knowledge of Montessori methods and teaching practices would be highly welcomed although not essential, providing you have a willingness to research and learn.

Exceptional interpersonal skills will enable you to develop strong relationships with your staff and our parents and children; maintaining a happy and thriving setting whilst working towards another Outstanding judgement in our next Ofsted inspection.
