Details of the Nursery Education Officer Role

We are looking to appoint 1 Nursery Education Officers to join our outstanding team to improve the outcomes for children in Hackney. Your role will be to help us achieve a safe, healthy and stimulating environment where activities enable children to grow and develop in line with good practice standards. As an excellent communicator, you will need to be enthusiastic and commented to rising standards.

These are ideal positions for experienced professionals looking to be an integral part of a team within a setting that provides an outstanding personal service to diverse families in the community. Significant professional experience of working within a culturally diverse educational childcare environment is essential. You must have good interpersonal and relationship building skills and possess good assessment skills.

An NVQ3 qualification in childcare learning & development or equivalent is essential for this role.  You will be required to work flexible hours as the centre operates a shift system.

NB: This post requires an enhanced DBS check.

Details of the Room Lead Roles

We are looking to appoint 2 Room Leads who will have strong leadership and management skills. You will be an effective communicator and have very strong organisational skills with a methodical approach to your work. The work involves overseeing and leading the room to ensure high standards of integrated education and care.  Your role will be to continually thrive towards an ‘outstanding’ provision in the Centre and also at Forest School.

Your good interpersonal skills will enable you to work in with various staff and their families.

You are required to have a qualification in Childcare and Education Level and above. Post qualification experience, including supervisory experience would be desirable. You will be required to work flexible hours as the centre operates a shift system.

Some of the primary duties will include:

  • Take responsibility for supervising staff within your room.
  • Demonstrate good practice and support colleagues with development of the EYFS.
  • Deployment of staff accordingly.
  • Ensure staff are up to date with special books, planning and any reviews and assessments.
  • Attend room leader meetings and be part of the middle leadership team.
  • Take responsibility as the ‘accountable person’ for opening and closing the building in absence of the Children’s Centre and Early Years Lead and the SCCO.
  • Liaise and work with other professionals such as Health Visitors, Educational Psychologists, Social Workers and Speech Therapists as appropriate, and the Senior Leadership Team when needed.

These positions are based at Clapton Park Children’s Centre. Clapton Park is also houses Hackney Forest School a new an innovative project in Hackney to run and promote the Forest School Ethos. We are seeing a professional who has an interest in outdoor learning with the potential to become a Forest School Lead through training and support.
