Our Little Oaks nursery provision originally opened in 2014 and is about to start an exciting period of growth and change.  The successful candidate will have the opportunity to not only be part of this vision, but to lead and help shape the strategic direction of the school, working closely with the Head of Early Years and Head of Pre-Prep.

The Little Oaks Lead role will be line-managed by the Head of Pre-Prep but will report ultimately to the Headmaster.

The Role:  

  • To help in the design of a new offering for Little Oaks in order to meet the needs of current and prospective families.
  • To lead and manage the Little Oaks Nursery and Kindergarten provision for the School.
  • To lead and manage the Little Oaks Team taking responsibility for the welfare, care,  learning and all round development of children in Little Oaks Nursery.
  • Management of the Little Oaks staffing team, including recruitment, staff planning, rosters and performance management. 
  • Oversight of the holiday club provision for the School.
  • To help to formulate the aims and objectives of the Foundation Stage/Early Years and policies for their implementation
  • To keep up to date with current issues in teaching and learning and in school improvement in the Foundation Stage/Early Years and to share this with staff
  • To monitor and evaluate the impact of the policies, practices, targets and priorities in the EYFS, identifying developments needed and working with the Head of EYFS to achieve them
  • To teach pupils in the Nursery/Kindergarten Class
  • To play a major role in the development of high quality teaching and learning in the EYFS including the monitoring of curriculum planning and the giving of feedback and advice and assisting and supporting colleagues with the planning and delivery of the EYFS
  • To seek ways of sharing good practice in the EYFS and to ensure dialogue about teaching and learning amongst school staff
  • To challenge and support others in developing professionally, both formally and informally
    • To act as a mentor to the EYFS staff where appropriate
    • To organize the day to day running of the Little Oaks, including the efficient management of school resources
    • To work with the Head of Early Years and Head of Pre-Prep to present an accurate and coherent account of the department’s performance to a range of audiences, enabling them to play their part effectively
    • To help promote and safeguard the welfare of all children
    • To fully support the life and work of the school
    • To develop and maintain positive and effective professional relationships with colleagues, parents, the local community and Governors
    • Fulfil the normal duties of a member of the teaching staff, including any reasonable requests that the Headmaster or other members of the Senior Leadership Team may make 

Requirements:

  • NVQ Level 3 Early Years or equivalent
  • GCSE English & Mathematics or equivalent at grade A-C 
  • Experience in managing a nursery provision
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Experienced line manager with excellent communication skills and ease in dealing with staff and parents
  • A passion for supporting children in education, be energetic, enthusiastic and motivated when working with 2 to 4 year olds.

This is a full time, year round role Monday to Friday covering shifts from 7:30am to 6:00pm. However, there is an expectation that you work as required, so this may involve working at weekends and in the evenings where necessary.
