Nursery Manager (Hornsey Road Children’s Centre, part of Manor Gardens Welfare Trust)

Hornsey Road Children’s Centre are currently recruiting to our Nursery Manager position to join and lead our experienced and committed team of practitioners and as a key part of our Early Years leadership team.

The Children’s Centre provides early year’s education and childcare to a total of 48 children daily, Monday – Friday, within extended hours, 8am – 6pm. In our care of babies, under twos, and 3-4 year olds we work extensively with the London Borough of Islington as part of the local Bright Start offer. This partnership is vital in ensuring we provide all our children with the best start in life, and promote the importance of early year’s education. Our relationship with all parents and families is greatly valued in achieving this aim.

In the role, you will provide professional leadership and management, ensuring a safe and high quality learning environment, meeting all standards of early years education. You will recruit, supervise, inspire, and develop staff to provide a consistently high standard of care and education. Our Centre works with many children and families with additional educational and support needs, and in our creative and robust assessment and planning, we effectively respond to the presenting needs of all the children from our local community. You will need an excellent understanding and approach to early help and safeguarding, and a commitment to partnership working.

Your sound knowledge and understanding of the educational, developmental health and social needs of children under five and of the requirements and guidance relating to the EYFS statutory framework, will demonstrate your comprehensive understanding of child development, child protection and Special Educational Needs. You will need a minimum qualification of NVQ Level 3 in Childcare and Education or equivalent, demonstrable experience in managing and leading a team, and a strong level of IT confidence and capability to meet the requirements of the role.

We are based in Islington, and operate predominantly across five London boroughs. We work with local communities to empower people in improving their lives. We deliver Early Years education in two nursery settings; Manor Gardens Nursery and Hornsey Road Children’s Centre. The Centre has recently achieved the Healthy Early Years Gold Award, and both our settings are rated ‘good’ by Ofsted.
