Head of Early Years

Job Type: Permanent

Location: Central London

Salary: Competitive

Start Date: April or September 2021

Arnold House School

Founded in 1905, Arnold House is a popular boys’ prep school based in St John’s Wood, London. In 2021 we will be embarking on a key new chapter in the history of the School with the opening of an Early Years setting. This will be based in the newly acquired Huxley Building, a short walk from the main school site. From September 2021 we will open two new reception classes and two pre-reception classes, enabling boys to enter the School and benefit from an Arnold House education from age 3.

We are looking for a suitably qualified and experienced Head of Early Years to join us, ideally from April 2021, for a handover period before the new setting opens in September. The Head of Early Years is required to manage all aspects of the setting, with the support of the Headmaster and senior team, ensuring high standards of provision and pastoral care for the boys. This post could suit an experienced Head of Early Years or a current Deputy looking for their next career move.

The successful applicant will be an exceptional and charismatic leader, who has a clear vision for what makes a successful Early Years setting within a prep school, as well as a champion of the Arnold House ethos, whereby we aim to provide an education of breadth and excellence for boys across the ability range in a supportive, purposeful and stimulating environment.

The successful candidate will have experience of the independent schools sector as a teacher and leader, leadership experience at various levels, experience of managing, developing, motivating and inspiring staff and the ability to develop lasting positive relationships with boys, staff and parents alike. The successful candidate will also be familiar with planning and delivering the EYFS framework, and will be familiar with ISI regulations as they apply to the sector. In addition to this, the successful applicant will have a sound understanding of safeguarding in relation to children in the early years.

The salary will be discussed at interview. Additional benefits include the Teacher Pension Scheme (currently), Fee Remission and the Cycle-to-Work Scheme.
