Company

Seahorse Nursery was founded by Julia Wolfe in 1997 in the ground floor of her family home (where it still exists today!). Julia had in a previous life been a Captain in the Army and later organised sports car tournaments. Having spent time at home with her two children Harriet and Edward she was ready for a new challenge and began teaching in 1991. She quickly completed her professional practice certificate and later a foundation year in Early Years. Six years later Julia decided to set up her own nursery and the first class of Seahorse Nursery students started in September 1997. Julia remains a hands on Principal and continues to teach at the pre-school on Southdean Gardens and provides in-house training and curriculum support to both day nurseries.

Harriet Wolfe, Julia’s daughter, graduated from Cardiff University in 2009 and began a career at the Home Office which led to two years working in the European Parliament in Brussels, Belgium. Her work was focused on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety and Women’s Rights and Gender Equality committees. In 2012 Harriet decided to move back to the UK and into teaching full time; she retrained in Early Years Education and gained Early Years Teacher Status in 2014. In October 2016 Harriet opened the Day Nursery based on Princes Way in Southfields (2016) and further Nurseries have been set up (Wimbledon Park, 2018 and Wimbledon Park Term Time, 2019). Harriet continues to teach on a weekly basis and her time is split across all of the nurseries.
