Lead Teacher (Ark Start)

Reporting to: Deputy Headteacher, Ark Start

Location: Ark Start locations (Clapham & East Croydon)

Contract: Permanent

Working Pattern: Will Consider Part Time (0.5FT +) or Full Time

Salary: Circa £45k per annum, DoE

Closing date: Friday 14th May 2021 at 10am

The role

We are looking for someone with a genuine passion for working with young children and with the knowledge, creativity, adaptability, and commitment to help lead training and innovation in our partner schools across the Ark Network.

Key Responsibilities

  • To create a nurturing, fun, safe and caring nursery environment that meets the needs of every child
  • Lead training and other initiatives at nursery, regional and network level
  • Support other settings to improve their early years provision
  • Use data to inform teaching and learning, identify areas for intervention and provide feedback to children, staff, and families in order to ensure progress
  • Manage behaviour effectively to create a safe, respectful, and nurturing environment
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues as a committed team member, building successful, high performing teams
  • Deploy and manage support staff to ensure exceptional provision for children
  • Work with colleagues, children, and families to develop a strong nursery community including delivery of family workshops and programmes to support children’s progress
  • Actively promote the safety and welfare of our children and young people
  • Ensure compliance with Ark’s data protection rules and procedures
  • Liaise with colleagues and external contacts at all levels of seniority with confidence, tact
  • and diplomacy
  • Any other reasonable task as directed by your line manager​

Person Specification: Lead Teacher, Ark Start

Qualification Criteria

  • Qualified to teach and work in the UK (QTS or EYTS)
  • Qualified to degree level or above

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • An exceptional early years teacher
  • Experience and knowledge of early child development
  • Sound knowledge of the legislation and guidelines of the EYFS and an excellent understanding of pedagogy, curriculum, and assessment
  • Effective and systematic behaviour management
  • Be or demonstrate the potential to become an outstanding leader
