We are pleased to announce an exciting opportunity for a Deputy Manager working 39 hours a week all year round

Successful applicants MUST hold a minimum Level 3 in a relevant Childcare qualification and demonstrate an ongoing commitment to their CPD

Job Purpose

To support the Nursery Manager in the day-to-day management of Adventure Hyndburn’s Little Stars Nursery settings.

To deputise for the Nursery Manager in their absence on a short term basis

To work closely with parents / carers and all partner organisations.

To support the Nursery Manager in the supervision and appraisal of staff as needed

To support the sustainability of the nurseries.

To support the quality improvement of the nurseries and the establishment of a programme of continuous improvement.

Responsible for

Supporting the Nursery Manager in the day to day management of Nursery team members possibly including supervision of a limited number of colleagues as required.

In the absence of the Nursery Manager to represent the Nursery to parents/carers and professionals.

Effective communication and liaison between nursery team members, parents / carers, partners and other relevant childcare service contacts.

Promoting the nurseries to increase the take up of the FEYE and support sustainability.

To support the effective administration of the Nursery.

Supporting quality improvement in the nurseries.

Making effective use of data, evaluation and Best Practice to support the development of planned early years’ activities to meet the learning needs of individual children.

Ensuring the nursery is legally compliant and adheres to registration requirements.

To ensure that

Children’s welfare, development and protection are prioritised at all times.

Children, parents and carers are central to all childcare related activity service developments and planned outcomes.

All childcare services and resources are planned and implemented to impact positively on children’s growth and development.

Provision of child-centred activities linked to the Early Years Foundation Stage.

Up to date knowledge of current local and national issues in childcare and early year’s education is maintained and informs the development of the nursery provision.

Participation in the assessment and planning of support to individual children and families, for example, Common Assessment Framework and Education, Health and Care plans.

Policies and procedures are implemented.

Childcare provision supports accessibility and inclusion for all children, parents and carers.

The development of appropriate childcare provision meets the requirements of the code of practice for children with special educational needs.

Work with management colleagues to ensure staff are managed appropriately and to support the deployment of staff across other Sure Start Hyndburn childcare provision in the event of staffing gaps caused by sick leave, training etc.

Specific roles in nursery are undertaken as required for example, SENCO etc…

Key Person roles are covered when needed and supporting a key group of children as required.

Safeguarding processes and policies and procedures are followed.

Other

To ensure that all Adventure Hyndburn activity reflects cultural and social diversity, in accordance with equal opportunities, principles and practice.

To keep up to date with new developments in appropriate fields, attend training, supervision sessions and contribute to workshops, seminars and conferences and participate in the training and development of others.

To work flexibly and be involved in out of working hour’s activities e.g. training, staff meetings, special events.

To observe the requirements of the Health and Safety at Work legislation.
