Contract/Hours: Permanent Part Time Term Time 22.5 hours per week.  Our Play Leader covers breakfast club (7.30-9am) and after school club (3-5.30pm) 5 days per week.

Spring RAF Benson is a large purpose-built nursery and new out of school club that supports the children and families of RAF Benson and the surrounding areas. We are looking for a Play Leader to join our team, this is a great opportunity for someone who has a desire to work with children and can demonstrate the ability to lead a team of Play Workers.

 We are open to discussions at interview stage regarding job share on this role if this is something you are keen to explore. There is also a potential for additional hours during school holidays to help with our holiday clubs. 

What you'll be doing

In the role of Play Leader you will be; 

  • Ensuring a safe, caring and welcoming environment for all children attending Spring  & Spring Oscars Out of School Clubs all times, whilst promoting the emotional, physical, social, psychological, developmental, and educational well-being of children is paramount
  • Leading and be responsible for the day to day management of a Spring & Spring OSCARS before and after school care, providing care and play opportunities in a safe and secure environment
  • Setting-up and preparing the club ready for each day, and to ensure that any snack or breakfast is prepared in line with healthy eating guidelines. Encourage children to be independent in preparation and serving of snack and engage with all children in tidying up.
  • Managing a team of Play Work staff and provide induction, supervision, team meetings, appraisals and identify training and development needs. Ensure the staff team are fully briefed and understand their duties.
  • Communicating  with all relevant partners which may include, colleagues, host venues, parents and regulators. Ensure the effective and accurate completion and recording of company and regulatory documentation i.e. self-assessment, action plans & take a lead role in providing information to the regulators during visits/inspections.

What we need from you

In the role of Play Leader, we're ideally looking for someone who has:

  • A recognised Early Years qualification at Level 3 on the Framework (England & Wales) or equivalent demonstrable experience
  • Experience of working in a senior role within a nursery or out of school setting or experience of working with children of school age .
  • Leading a staff team, including supervision, work allocation, assessment or training and professional development needs.
  • Paediatric 1st Aid at Work or be willing to undertake
