Location: Finchley Central, London

Contract Type/Hours: Full time, permanent contract to work 40 hours per week on a rota basis – 7.30am –4.30pm / 8am-5pm / 9.30am-6.30pm

Salary: £27k+ depending on qualifications / experience

We are hiring a Pre-School Room Leader to join our fun and friendly OFSTED OUTSTANDING children’s day nursery located in Finchley Central, North London. Winner of NDNA's Nursery of the Year South 2018 award.

We are seeking an experienced full time Level 3 / Degree qualified senior so make sure you apply now if you are a dedicated and passionate childcare professional.

You’ll need to be highly committed to providing children with the very best care and education. You’ll also have to be keen to progress and develop your own knowledge and skills.

Room Leader Key Responsibilities

• To support children’s learning & development using the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework
• To take the Lead and direct staff in Planning, observing and assessing children in your care Accurate Record keeping
• Assisting with meals / snack times to follow dietary requirements and Food Safety regulations
• Ensuring health and safety/ safeguarding standards are met Interacting with parents and updating them on children’s progress
• Supporting, mentoring and Supervising staff in their day-to day duties
• Liaising with external professionals
• Maintaining high quality standards consistent with our Ofsted Outstanding rating for the nursery environment, resources and experiences offered to children.
• Remain up to date with developments in childcare & education policies & practices.

You Will Need The Following Qualifications, Training And Experience 

* NVQ level 3 childcare and education or higher

• A first aid qualification is preferred
• A firm understanding of the EYFS framework
• Experience and knowledge of safeguarding practice
• Experience of managing a team
• Willingness to continue professional development

About Us

The Rocking Horse is NDNA Nursery of the Year South 2018, Ofsted Outstanding, privately owned and family run, registered children’s day nursery located in a quiet residential street in Finchley Central, London. The nursery is within walking distance of the beautiful grounds of Avenue House, Victoria Park and Finchley Central underground station.

The setting, a large Edwardian house with extensive gardens has been transformed and equipped to offer the highest standards of care for children aged between three months and five years in line with National Standards, the Early Years Foundation Framework and parental aspirations.

The Rocking Horse Nursery is run by a professionally qualified Manager, Audrey, who has completed a BA in Early Childhood Studies, and achieved her Early Years Professional Status (EYPS), the Gold Standard for those working with children under the age of 5. Audrey has over 30 years' experience in Nursery Management and skilled childcare. Both the Nursery Manager (EYP) and Deputy Manager (QTS) are highly qualified in all aspects of Nursery Management, Child Education and Development, Advanced Child Protection, Child Health, First Aid, Special Needs, Communication Skills and Partnerships with Parents.

Our caring, dedicated and exuberant staff team consists of Nursery Nurses / Teachers who are all qualified to NNEB/ NVQ Level 2/ 3 / Level 4 / Degree / Masters Degree / Early Years Professional Status / Qualified Teacher Status or are working towards these awards or due to enrol within three months of starting with us. We are proud of the fact that 80% of our staff are university graduates.

Staff knowledge and training is of paramount importance and the Nursery is committed to an on-going professional staff development programme to ensure that we are continually up to date with Childcare and Management issues and any changes in legislation. All our staff are trained in Paediatric First Aid, Child Protection, Fire safety, and Food Hygiene.
