We are looking to appoint a passionate and well qualified Nursery Manager to join our nursery at Gidea Park Preparatory School and Nursery. This is an exciting opportunity for you to join our thriving nursery.

This full time position would suit an experienced manager looking to join our growing setting and build upon the already excellent provision that is in place. Working with our dedicated team of practitioners you will be supported and welcomed into an outstanding team. The Nursery Manager is part of the School’s Senior Leadership Team.

Gidea Park Preparatory School and Nursery is an independent, co-educational day school for children aged 2 to 11, where pupils get the best start possible and learn in a happy and secure environment. Founded in 1917, we have been educating, nurturing and challenging children for over 100 years. Children are at the heart of everything we do; our small classes and school environment truly allow us to know our pupils as individuals and to tailor our teaching and curriculum accordingly. We have high expectations for our pupil’s academic progress and personal development and work closely with our parents to ensure that all our pupils get the very most from their time with us.

The school has an enviable academic record and a long tradition of sending pupils to grammar and selective independent schools. But there is a great deal more to Gidea Park than just academic success. We firmly believe that happy children make better progress and to achieve this, children need to be understood, listened to and valued. We are looking for a Nursery Manager who is passionate, supportive, hardworking and able to progress our nursery forward.

With recent expansion and investment into our facilities all of our children are nurtured and can be challenged by new and exciting topics and learning adventures. The successful candidate should be passionate about children’s learning and able to enhance our pupils development.

We are looking for you as our Nursery Manager to be able to demonstrate the following qualifications & experiences:

  • Full and relevant Level 5 Childcare qualification (NVQ5, EYTS, QTS, B.ed or above)
  • Have recent and relevant post qualification experience within a childcare setting
  • Great passion for child development and a good working knowledge of the EYFS 0-5 years curriculum.
  • Experience of working in a Management role, mentoring and leading staff
  • Excellent knowledge of the EYFS and Ofsted statutory guidance
  • Knowledge of child protection and safeguarding
  • Knowledge and proven practical experience of implementing good quality learning opportunities
  • Ability to deliver a high standard of childcare
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work productively with pupils, colleagues, parents and outside agencies
  • Excellent planning, organising and time management skills
  • A fantastic understanding for how a Nursery works.
  • Excellent communication skills and able to work effectively in a team
  • A willingness and ability to support the Schools core aims for our children and staff:

As our Nursery manager you will be leading an excellent team of practitioners, you will have autonomy to progress the nursery and be instrumental continuing to develop a high-quality setting where all children can thrive. The ability to share best practice and train other member of staff is another key part of the role.
