Job Details

We are looking for a passionate individual who understands the importance of the 1001 critical days, who wants to support families in Luton to have improved outcomes for themselves and their children. You will have previous staff management experience, as the role will be to co-ordinate a small team of Family Support Link Workers, supporting families primarily with children aged 0-5 years.

The role will also deliver focused interventions as well as parenting programmes and workshops. You will work proactively with the community, voluntary and statutory sectors to support families to access appropriate services and activities that will empower them to take control of their health and wellbeing, including the Start for Life offer. This post is funded by The National Lottery Community Fund.

Main Duties:

  • Provide supervision and case work oversight to the Family Support Link Workers whilst acting as a designated safeguarding officer. Ensuring identification, reporting and management of safeguarding concerns meet the Luton Safeguarding Children Board and Early Years Alliance policies and procedures.
  • Support families primarily from pregnancy to 5 years to access services by building confidence, motivation and resilience using a holistic, family-centred and strength’s based approaches.
  • Support coordination and facilitation of evidence-based parenting programmes including (but not limited to) the Parenting Puzzle and Henry healthy families and parenting workshops; both within the community and in partner venues across Luton as well as virtual delivery.
  • Support delivery of key messages with a focus on supporting parents transition to parenthood and the Start for Life offer
  • Work effectively as part of a team of senior staff supporting the Flying Start service delivery.

Essential Criteria:

  • Level 3 qualification in Early Years, Health & Social Care, Family Support or extensive demonstrable experience of working with families, providing early intervention services and support – with a clear understanding of why the early years is important for future life chances.
  • GCSE Maths and English or equivalent.
  • Extensive proven experience of supervising staff working with families including case management and safeguarding supervision.
  • Proven, experience of effective management of staff, setting targets, conducting supervisions and performance management.
  • Experience in facilitating groups such as parenting programmes or workshops.
  • Trained or willingness to receive training on; trauma informed approaches; adverse childhood experiences; participation and co-production; safeguarding and parenting programme facilitation.

Hours per week: 35

Weeks per year:  52

This is a fixed Term Post until 31st August 2025

 

All successful applicants will be required to register and subscribe with the DBS Update Service (if you have not already done so) and undertake a new enhanced disclosure and barring check (even if you have an existing DBS Certificate).
