Would you like to work for an organisation steeped in history but focused on the future and recognised worldwide as a centre of excellence? An organisation that promotes a healthy work/life balance and recognises and rewards achievements? If so, then Norland is the place for you.

Our TEF Gold-rated award-winning early years undergraduate degree and integrated diploma programme is world-renowned for delivering outstanding teaching, learning and outcomes for our students. In March 2019, we were granted Taught Degree Awarding Powers (TDAP) by the Privy Council and now offer our own BA (Hons) Early Childhood Education and Care degree alongside the prestigious Norland diploma. We recently won the UK’s top Small or Specialist Provider award at the 2023 Whatuni Student Choice Awards, our third win and the sixth consecutive year in the top two. In 2021, Whatuni named us the top university in the UK for Enhanced Graduate Outcomes. In 2022, we won the Inspiring Course award at the UK’s Independent Higher Education Awards.

We are looking to appoint an early years specialist to become our Head of Graduates – Placement, Employment and Alumni. Being part of a dynamic senior leadership team, the post holder will contribute towards Norland’s strategy, create annual Enhancement and Action Plans for the Newly Qualified Nanny (NQNs), Agency and Alumni teams as well as provide leadership to promote a culture of excellence and continuing improvement.

The post holder will oversee the NQN, Agency and Alumni teams ensuring professional standards are adhered to and a high-quality service is provided to all NQNs, Norlanders and clients. The post holder will be responsible for the further development of the Professional Association of Norlanders (PAN) by continuing to increase membership and provide a comprehensive and relevant CPD programme. Furthermore, the post holder will oversee the student JobShop platform, ensuring processes are in place to verify relevant jobs.

The post-holder will be responsible for ensuring the agency meets its annual financial targets and will be required to report to the Board and sub-committees on progress.

You must have a background, qualification and specialism in the early years field and hold a relevant master’s degree or equivalent practical experience with a willingness to undertake further study.  Holding the Norland Diploma will be advantageous but is not an essential criterion. Having experience as a safeguarding officer would also be viewed favourably although training will be provided.  A sound knowledge of early years learning and development as well as experience working in the early years field are essential for this role.  Highly effective communication skills and leadership experience are also essential for the role.

You will need to be a self-starter, with the ability to get on well with people, be highly organised in order to meet deadlines and work to a high level of accuracy with attention to detail in a fast-paced environment. A flexible approach to work and a friendly, approachable nature are key to being successful in this role.

Norland employee benefits:

  • Competitive salaries and pay progression.
  • Generous holiday entitlement, including an extra day off on your birthday and 4 closure days at Christmas.
  • Free staff parking.
  • Support with continued professional development both financially and with study days.
  • Free tea and coffee.
  • Occasional staff lunches and breakfasts.
  • Staff and departmental away days.
  • Private health care insurance.
  • Life assurance scheme.
  • Income support scheme with access to an employee assistance programme (EAP).
  • Discounts with Sodexo.
  • Access to a corporate health cash plan.
  • Access to a digital mental health and wellbeing service.
  • Option to lease an electric vehicle.
